Ever since 1-1-1 I wanted to have a celebration for each day that had a matching set of numbers (ie February 2nd, 2002; March 3rd, 2003; etc). Well, life got in the way of actually enjoying it and I haven’t done much and don’t have any grandiose plans for today either, but maybe that doesn’t matter. Instead, we should remember the last time there was an important 11-11-11 (the last 11 being 11 o’clock). It was the end of The Great War–which at the time no one thought would be soon relabeled World War One. Every day there are less and less veterans of such devastating conflicts. Soon, those that saved the world from fascism will all be gone, replaced by a new group of veterans of other wars, wars like The Gulf War–which at the time no one thought would be soon relabeled Gulf War One. Maybe before going out for a Friday night party, we should take a moment to thank those that stood up to defend this country, and those that still do. So celebrate veterans this Veterans Day, oh, and keep 12-12-12 open for me….
