I enjoyed both volumes of War Stories, tremendously, for the reasons you state. These are among my favorite reads, though I haven't reread them and wonder if they stand up to repeated readings.

Interesting idea. Of course my comic would be more awesome than your dream (but only involve walking down one hill).

I think it's most of the background colors I don't care too much for. They're too...solid or something. At the same time I don't think some of the Kirby swirls and stuff will look as good without background color, but I think the background colors take away focus from the characters.

I'm not sure if this is counter to what I'm saying about focus, but some of the background Kirby-esque details, like in panel 2 (if we include the title panel), are lightly sketched on and would look better more solid.

Otherwise I'm curious to see where the story is going and what the jokes or analysis will be. I'm thinking a definite joke.

I really like the moody blues of the first image. If you ever think about doing a comic with a tone like that it'll look and feel brilliant. The tone even works up through the fourth image you've included.

The shadows of the last panel don't seem necessary. I dig how it looks in the earlier panels as they need only be a representation of actual people.

Next time you come to New York you'll be able to teach me to color? Awesome!

Turns out I bought all of your Twilight Guardian comics (including the Pilot Season issues) at the sale at Heroes and Villains last Tuesday night, except number 2, which isn't available at my local comic shop on Long Island either, so I'll hunt around because I am anxious to read them. Thanks for commenting. I've got Common Grounds in the queue.

I hope the last panel isn't the punchline and that there's at least another page after this.

I'm digging the Kirbyesqueness, but would like a stronger replication of it, which, if the title panel is included, works well in the fourth panel. It's something about the inking and designs on machines that really makes Kirby backgrounds. Maybe add some Kirby dots around the machinery in panel four, or make it a joke in each panel, have them floating about endlessly, in spite of your less is better approach to this sort of thing?

The names are funny, Red and Hothead, as obvious parodies of the F4 members. You can have "The Thing" walk in as a giant "thing", tee-hee. OK, I doubt you'll do that, but I think it'd be hilarious.
